The new Church was given portions of relics of Sts. Cyril and Methodius, a copy of the Iveron Icon (Portaitissa) of the Mother of God blessed on its origin in the Iveron Monastery on Mount Athos, as well as a copy of the Icon of the Mother of God "Evangelistria".
The conference "Saints Cyril and Methodius and their universal and missionary work" took place in the International Academy of Theological and Philosophical Studies "Cyril and Methodius, Equals-to-the-Apostles" situated in the Holy Trinity Monastery in Pende-Vrises near Langadas, reports the Amen agency.
The Equal-to-the-Apostles teachers of Slavs were also commemorated in their native land—Thessaloniki. On May 11, the Divine Liturgy in the Church of Sts. Cyril and Methodius in Thessaloniki, was served by Metropolitan Anthimus of Thessaloniki with Metropolitan Theologos of Serres, Metropolitan Theoklitos of the Mount Athos and Ardameri, Bishop Panteleimon of Theopolis and Bishop Demetrios of Thermes concelebrating.
On May 20-23, the faculty of Theology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki is arranging an academic conference devoted to the enlighteners of Slavs, reports the Romphea agency.
