Rescuers of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry searching for a missing employee of the Solovetsky monastery in the White Sea accidentally found a man, who survived a shipwreck in early October, the regional emergency situations department said.

"The young man was found on an island. The boat he was using to collect algae wrecked on October 1," it said.

The 25-year-old man sought by no one said he had no hope for being found. When he heard a helicopter flying, he ran out of a cave and started waving his hands and shouting.

"The rescuers picked up the new 'Robinson' and brought him to Arkhangelsk. He was taken to a hospital in a medium grave condition," the department said.

The search for the monastery employee has been vain so far. Three vessels continue the search for the wrecked cutter.

Earlier reports said that a monk was found dead on Monday.

The 48-year-old monk and the 27-year-old worker of the monastery started their travel from Blagopoluchiya Bay on the Bolshoy Solovetsky Island to Kem, Karelia, at 4:00 p.m. Moscow time on October 13.

The weather was bad. Besides, the Albatros 610 cutter they were using had a plastic hull and was built for voyages along the coast.

The men had their last contact with the land at about 6:00 p.m. on October 13. According to the Emergency Situations Ministry, they said they were passing the Top Island (a point close to the place of their departure) and that they were frightened. Then their mobile phones went silent.

It was reported from Karelia at 7:15 p.m. Moscow time on October 16 that a fisherman found the wrecked cutter's hull off the Russkiy Island.
